The TripZ Music Comedy Fusion Cafe is a theater-style musical comedy show combining original guitar songs, sketch and standup bits, and audience participation  games (always optional).

Audience members get to "order" songs and games listed on the show menu, so no two shows are ever the same. A typical 90-minute show will cover about 30% of what's listed on the show menu: 5-8 songs and 2-3 audience games.

Audience members can participate in the show by choosing one of the standprov (stand-up + improv)or audience games listed on the menu. â€‹â€‹â€‹

About

My real name is Hunter. I grew up in Santa Cruz, left town for a few decades, then came back after the pandemic.

I've been performing improv comedy since 2000, first in Los Angeles, and later in Detroit, where I performed in hundreds of shows and taught both short- and long-form improv at Go Comedy theater.

While at Go Comedy, I was also part of a long-running musical improv troupe, Rock-o-matic. Each show was a completely improvised musical with backing band based on an audience suggestion at the top of the show.

My training started at Improv Olympic and Bang! in LA around 2000, and since then I've trained at Go Comedy, Planet Ant,  Second City, Annoyance, Under the Gun, among others. Before becoming an instructor at Go Comedy, I completed a year of weekly shows and training sessions with the launch group Future Kids.  I've performed in the Detroit, Chicago, Cincinnati, and Grand Rapids improv festivals with both longform and musical comedy troupes.  â€‹

My songs are similar in style to Adam Sandler ("The Chanukah Song") and Jonathon Richmond ("There's Something About Mary").

My improv background has definitely shaped the way I perform as a solo act. I thrive on connecting with the audience and interacting directly with them, feeding off their energy and mood.

Why TripZ?
When I lived in Santa Monica, my upstairs neighbor and I used to walk to Rick's bar on Main Street near Venice Beach and play a video golf game called Golden Tee. The game required a three-letter handle, and I chose ZZZ cause it was easy and quick to enter using the trackball. I started referring to "TripleZ" in some of my songs, and over time I stuck with the name and just shortened it to TripZ.
